As construction began, it became clear that the patio site was too exposed to the neighbors—and that it was too large. In this revision, the patio is smaller, lower, and notched deeper into the bank.
To accommodate the new size of the patio, the gardens are reconfigured.
The first stones—quarried locally—are placed.
This set of stairs goes from the lakeshore to the patio. A second set of stairs will go from the patio to the lawn.
The base of the terraced wall, which will protect the bank from winter ice shove and spring inundation. Deep rooted plants on the upper levels will add further stabilization.
